Designing Tools That Power Financial Teams

FMT, our Financial Management Tool, was built on a simple belief: an analyst’s time is best spent on judgement, not manual effort. FMT applies automation thoughtfully to those areas that warrant it, ensuring that decisions remain firmly with the credit team.

  • Limited Portfolio Risk Visibility
  • Human Error
  • Governance and Approval Gaps
  • Wasted Analyst Capacity
  • Inconsistent Judgement
  • Slow Decision Making

Why We Built FMT

Sound judgement has always sat at the heart of credit analysis. Far more is required of a skilled analyst than inputting figures into spreadsheets or calculating ratios. And yet, across many credit teams, repetitive manual work continues to take up a disproportionate share of the analyst’s time.

Across trade finance, banking and corporate finance, the volume and complexity of financial data are growing faster than most teams can reasonably process using spreadsheets, outdated legacy software and manual workarounds. Today’s credit teams are expected to deliver faster decisions, to a higher analytical standard, whilst managing more data and counterparties than ever before.

Our Approach

Powered by OMT, our Operations Management Tool, FMT automates the most labour-intensive elements of credit analysis, restructuring the credit workflow itself by connecting financial spreading, analysis, rating, documentation and approval processes within one system.

This allows for much better ways of working. Financial models can process data and identify patterns, but are inherently programmed to be amenable rather than critical. They cannot provide the interpretation, explainability and accountability that a credit decision requires. Those remain matters of human judgement: assessing the obligor’s business model, market position and management quality; its financial resilience and exposure to industry and macroeconomic conditions; the reasons behind past performance and the longevity of current trends; and the risks that lie beyond the financial statements.
